The So Danca SD16VG Width C Vegan Ballet Shoes combine the flexible, streamlined feel of the much-loved SD16 family with two important differences: a wider C fitting and vegan micro-suede alternative sole pads. Designed for dancers who want an animal-free ballet shoe but find standard medium widths restrictive, this version gives broader feet additional room without losing the close feel of stretch canvas.
Premium stretch canvas follows the shape of the foot, while the flexible split sole allows natural articulation through every tendu, relevé and point. Available in Pink, White and Black, the SD16VG C is a practical vegan studio shoe for dancers who need both flexibility and genuine forefoot width.
So Danca SD16VG Width C Personality
Vegan • Wide Fit • Flexible • Second-Skin
The SD16VG C is about making two choices independently: material and fit. Choosing vegan materials shouldn't mean accepting the wrong width, and needing a wider ballet shoe shouldn't mean giving up the close, flexible feel of stretch canvas.
The C fitting gives broader forefeet more space to sit naturally inside the shoe, while the stretch canvas continues to follow the contours of the foot. The result is accommodating without feeling bulky - exactly what we want from a modern wide-fit ballet slipper.
So Danca SD16VG Vegan Ballet Shoes - Design & Performance
The premium stretch canvas upper sits closely around the foot, helping minimise excess fabric while allowing natural movement through the toes, metatarsals and arch. Underneath, vegan micro-suede alternative toe and heel pads create an animal-free split sole construction while maintaining the flexibility and floor connection required for regular ballet training.
Pre-sewn crossed elastics hold the shoe securely across the instep, while the elasticated drawstring-free topline keeps the opening smooth and uncomplicated. The universal construction means there is no designated left or right shoe when new, allowing each shoe to gradually adapt through regular wear.
The defining fit difference is the C wide fitting. Compared with the SD16VG B medium width, C provides additional space through the forefoot and metatarsals. If B feels correct in length but compresses the toes or creates uncomfortable pressure across the widest part of the foot, C allows us to solve the width problem without simply adding unnecessary shoe length.
Available in Pink, White and Black, the SD16VG C combines a versatile studio colour range with a vegan construction and a genuinely useful wider fit.

Dance World Expert Tip
Choose your materials and your width as two separate decisions. If you want a vegan ballet shoe and have a medium-width foot, choose the SD16VG B. If the B length feels correct but the forefoot feels compressed, move to the SD16VG C rather than adding unnecessary length. The C fitting is designed to give a broader foot more room while preserving the close stretch canvas fit.
So Danca SD16VG Width C Fit Advice
Advanced & Professional Dancers
For a close performance fit, we recommend approximately ½–1 UK size above measured foot length. The SD16VG has a small, close-fitting character, while the C width provides additional space through the forefoot compared with B.
Growing Students & Adult Beginners
For most dancers, approximately 1–1½ UK sizes above measured foot length provides a comfortable everyday ballet fit while allowing the stretch canvas to remain smooth and connected around the foot.
First Ballet Shoes & Young Dancers
For first ballet shoes and younger dancers, approximately 1½–2 UK sizes above measured foot length usually provides comfortable growing room while maintaining a secure ballet fit.
Width C Fit Note
C is the wide-fitting version and is designed for dancers who need additional room through the forefoot and metatarsals. The toes should be able to lie naturally without compression, but the shoe should still sit smoothly around the foot without obvious folds or an insecure heel.
If C creates excess fabric or feels loose despite the correct length, the SD16VG B medium width may provide the better fit.
Dance World Fit Advice is intended as a helpful starting point rather than a guarantee of fit. For the most accurate fit, always measure the dancer's foot rather than relying solely on everyday shoe size. Foot shape, width and personal preference all influence the ideal fit.
